Govt. Polytechnic, Bhaga, Dhanbad earlier known as Mining Institute Bhaga (estd. in 1905) is under the administrative control of Department of Higher & Technical Education, Govt. of Jharkhand. Is unique in its own kind. Earlier it was under the administrative control of Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of Jharkhand. Initially this institute was made exclusive for mining technician. Now it is imparting diploma in Mining Engineering and Computer Engineering course of duration 3 years / 6 Semesters. The Institute has track record of producing quality engineers who served the industries and other fields with great honour and dignity. Students of Mining Engg. Courses are also facilitated with industrial training in underground coal mines of Coal India Limited. The training of this kind adds extra Industrial experience and professionalism to the diploma holders.
Diploma in other courses at this institute is of six semester’s duration and the students of last semester have to carry out in-plant training.
Now this Institute is running in the newly constructed building at BIT Sindri campus. To meet the varying needs of industries and to improve the quality of learning and teaching output all existing laboratories and library of this institute is getting upgraded with modern technologies. The future trust area is to modernize the existing laboratories, set up modern class rooms and learning resource
